Rackmount LCD Monitor: Industrial Grade Monitor used by Network Administrators

QUAD Screen Display

An industrial grade cost and space saving LCD monitor which is a solution to space constrained server racks is known as a Rackmount LCD monitor. Housed in a metal casing, this device is available in sizes such as 15”, 17”, 19” and 20”. Depending upon the size of the rack, these devices can be 1U, 2U, 6U, 7U, 8U, 9U or 10U. Classification is also done on the basis of type of video supported or on the features of the device. While the former categorizes them in VGA, DVI, HDMI, S-Video, Composite RCA and Composite BNC, the latter separates them into Sunlight readable LCD, Short or shallow depth LCD, Quad screen LCD etc. While the short depth LCD is for smaller than normal depth server rack environments, the Sunlight readable LCD is for ambient lighting conditions.

The Quad Screen Rackmount LCD on the other hand is one of the latest models which have the ability to monitor four video feeds simultaneously on a single screen. Available in two models, one with standard 4:3 video resolution and the other with wide screen 16:9 video format, these devices are perfect for CCTV and Surveillance monitoring, Data Centers, Control Rooms and Mission Critical Monitoring configurations. The most important feature of this device which is also common to all models is the unique flip up design which allows the unit to remain open even when the rack door is closed for easy viewing.

Other key features of the Rackmount monitor are easy installation, simple plug and play methodology, no requirement of additional software or device drivers, hot plug ability and an on screen display that controls Brightness, Contrast, Color, Clock, H. Position, V. Position, Phase, Scaling, Auto config, Input select, Multi window, Clear EEPROM, OSD adjust and Save. Equipped with LEDs that indicate the power connection status, these units offer multi platform support and can work with IBM, HP, Dell, SUN Microsystems. Optional DC power 12V, 24V and 48V, analog to digital signal converter board, Standard D-sub 15-pin VGA input connectors are some additional features of these monitors. They support resolutions ranging from 1024 x 768 up to 1600 x 1200 and have all necessary agency approvals from CE, FCC, TAA and RoHS.

Due to all these features, the Rackmount LCD monitor provides effective assistance to network administrators to monitor PCs. They are widely used in commercial, military, and government as well as industrial applications.

Rackmount LCD KVM: Cost Efficient Solution for Space Constrained Server Room Environments

A space saving solution for compact server rooms, the Rackmount LCD KVM is a combination of a keyboard, LCD and mouse integrated into a drawer. These drawers can be 1U or 2U depending upon the size of the rack. Classified on the basis of the type of video supported, these drawers are categorized as VGA, DVI, HDMI, Composite RCA or BNC and S-Video. They can also be classified on the basis of features into sunlight readable KVMs, short depth model, SUN KVM and Dual slide KVMs. While the Sunlight KVM drawers are used in high brightness environments, the short depth model is used in server rooms where rack depth is shallow. The SUN KVM is designed specially to work with SUN servers and the Dual slide KVM has two separate slides; one housing the keyboard / mouse and the other housing the LCD.

The Rackmount monitor keyboard drawer is also available in PS2 and USB variants. All these models have some features that are common to all such as operating on simple plug and play functionality, easy installation and set up, a flip up design that allows the unit to remain open for easy viewing even when the rack door is closed. While the on-screen display is used to control Brightness, Contrast, Color, Clock, Horizontal Position, Vertical Position, Phase, Scaling, Auto configuration, Input select, Multi window, Clear EEPROM, Save and Adjust, the mode of control of these units are hot keys, front panel push buttons or auto scan.

Available with adjustable rack mount brackets, the Rackmount keyboard also has slide rails which prevent movement of the keyboard while typing. The TCP, UDP, IP, ARP, ICMP, HTTP/HTTPS, Telnet, DHCP/BOOTP, PPP, SMTP, DNS, NTP, Dynamic DNS protocols are followed by these units and they are available in screen sizes ranging from 15” to 20”. Offering multi platform support these devices work with Windows, SUN, Dell, UNIX and Linux operating systems. Light weight, they are hot pluggable and allow users to add and remove connected devices for maintenance without powering down the switch. The more advance version of this device allows remote access to servers over the TCP/IP network via web browser and is SSL V2/V3 encrypted for secure transmission. Equipped with built-in microprocessor emulation for each port boot up process, the Rackmount LCD KVM also has the ability to support multiple keyboard languages.

Used in various server room applications, this Rackmount device is also required in certain commercial, industrial and military environments.
